The AST Aviation Train the Trainer Programme is an intensive professional training course designed for aviation professionals who wish to develop the knowledge, instructional techniques and practical skills required to plan, prepare and effectively deliver professional training sessions.
Subject knowledge alone does not make an effective trainer. A professional instructor must be able to communicate knowledge clearly, adapt training methods to different learners, manage a classroom effectively and evaluate whether the intended learning objectives have been achieved.
With experience in aviation training since 1970, AST – Airline Services Training combines theoretical knowledge, instructional techniques, practical exercises and actual classroom delivery to prepare participants for the real responsibilities of an aviation trainer.
The programme is delivered in an intensive format of 5 days × 8 hours per day, providing a total of 40 hours of training.
Training combines theoretical instruction, workshops, practical exercises, lesson preparation and a final classroom training presentation.
The role and responsibilities of a professional aviation trainer, trainer competencies, professional conduct and effective knowledge transfer.
Principles of adult learning, learning styles, factors affecting learning, learner motivation and techniques for maintaining attention, engagement and active participation.
Identifying training needs and target groups, establishing clear learning objectives and connecting those objectives with measurable training outcomes.
Developing and structuring lesson plans, selecting appropriate content, organising the training sequence, managing available time and preparing professional training material.
Lectures, demonstrations, discussions, case studies, role-playing, group exercises and selecting the appropriate instructional method according to the subject, learning objectives and learner profile.
Presentation techniques, verbal and non-verbal communication, body language, voice control, active listening, questioning techniques and developing confidence when delivering training.
Classroom and time management, encouraging learner participation, creating a positive learning environment and effectively managing different personalities and challenging classroom situations.
Effective use of presentations, audiovisual resources and other training aids, together with the development of training material that supports the learning process.
Methods for assessing learner knowledge and performance, observation and questioning techniques, practical exercises and evaluation of overall training effectiveness.
Providing constructive feedback, receiving and using feedback as a trainer and identifying areas for continuous professional development and improvement.
A key element of the AST Train the Trainer programme is practical application.
During the programme, the AST Cabin Crew Training Manager assigns each participant a specific training subject.
The participant is required to design and prepare a complete training session and apply the instructional techniques developed throughout the programme.
The process includes preparing a lesson plan, establishing learning objectives, developing appropriate training material and training aids, managing the available training time and preparing for the final classroom presentation.
The final presentation is not simply a simulation performed among Train the Trainer participants.
Each trainee instructor delivers the assigned lesson to an actual class of AST students, providing genuine classroom delivery experience and the opportunity to apply the skills developed during the programme in a real learning environment.
During the lesson, participants are evaluated on:
Following the presentation, participants receive professional feedback from the AST Cabin Crew Training Manager, highlighting their strengths and identifying areas for further development.

Upon successful completion of the programme and the practical lesson presentation, participants receive a Certificate of Achievement from AST – Airline Services Training.
Successful completion confirms that the participant has completed the training programme and the practical Prepare & Deliver a Lesson component, applying the lesson-planning, instructional, classroom-management and evaluation techniques covered during the course.
The AST Train the Trainer programme is also available as individual 1-on-1 training, providing a personalised learning experience and direct interaction with the trainer.
This option is particularly suitable for aviation professionals seeking greater flexibility and training adapted to their existing experience, professional background and individual development needs.
Participants completing the programme on a 1-on-1 basis also undertake the practical lesson preparation and delivery component, with the final presentation delivered to an actual class of AST students.
Since 1970, AST – Airline Services Training has been active in professional aviation training, preparing individuals for the real requirements of the aviation industry.
The Train the Trainer programme follows the same philosophy: professional training should extend beyond theory and provide participants with the opportunity to move from the learner’s seat to the trainer’s position and apply their skills in a real classroom environment.
