Practical Training in Fire Fighting for Cabin Crews

Did you know that one of the practical trainings that are required in order to obtain the cabin crew attestation is the training in firefighting?  Our students attended the firefighting training at the Fire Department in the Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” and there they learned that fires on board an airplane could cause fatal disasters. Fires can be a great threat and cabin crews should at all times recognize smells and other fire-related signals so that they can act immediately.

Indicative modules covered in the training:

  • Fire on general
  • Impact of fires on an Aircraft
  • Chemistry of combustion
  • Categories of fire/types of fire in the cabin
  • Firefighting systems and fire protection systems for aircraft and passengers
  • Extinguishing methods and fire extinguishers
  • Operational standards and cabin crew working standards when there is an in-flight smoke and fire
  • Emergency ground handling procedures
  • Practical training/fire simulation and working on smoke in the Boeing B737-200 training aircraft / extinguishing a controlled actual fire using fire extinguishers
